Summer Hiatus

Missing my friends and all the fun we have playing in the garden together. Tis sooo hot out I only venture out in the wee hours of the morning and late in the evening.
The rain we had the last 23 days is gone and things are starting to wilt among the throngs of Mosquito babies looking for a piece of tender flesh. More mosquitoes to
come in the next few weeks.....so I hide in the house missing my fellow Sirens and I'll sing a siren's song until we meet again. Here's a look in my yard.

I Love Rain Barrels!

I saw this at the Master Gardener's Convention.
Who wouln't love a rain barrel like this.  Maybe we will make one this fall.

A May Day at the LaPray Compound.

On May 8th we gathered at Sybil's house to view her garden and weed her almost perfect beds.  As a special treat she took us for a ride to see the family homes all around her.  She has a brand new home and is just getting started adding to the landscape.  It looks lovely .
Weeding almost perfect beds.  Her vegetable garden was amazing . Forgot to take a picture but she had cucumbers and tomatoes galore.

Off for a visit areound the Family compound........

We got to ride a Mule!!!  It was so much fun!  Especially for Margaret and me in the back.....Great Vibrations!!!

Then the Sirens enjoyed a wonderful brunch... Thanks Sybil, for a great day!
I gave Sybil some blackberry vines and she made a nice blackberry patch on the south side of her house. Here's what they will look like next year.

We will rest for the months of June, July and August .  We will meet again in September.

April 24, 2012. SOS in the Country

Francis had two beautiful river birch trees in her front yard.  The bark was amazing.
Linda and Sybil have a little swing talk after we finished mulching.
Our hostess Francis made a delicious brunch.
We had corn on the cob, fruit salad, lettuce salad and spagetti. We had a fun and productive morning.  Francis gave us each a Night Blooming Ceres and a double Angel Trumphet.   Thanks Francis for the wonderful morning.

Conner's In the Country

This morning we gathered at Francis Conner's lovely garden to put mulch EVERYWHERE!!!

The first thing we saw was this lovely little fountain.

Her garden was lovely and way out in the country.
First we mulched the right side.
and then the mulched the left side.
Her hubby is building her a lovely sunroom in the front.
The entry way to her garden is through the Jasmine Trellis.
Francis had 5 or 6 of these lovely pink bushes.
                                           The tomato and cucumber bed.
A unique trellis made from Francis Grandmother's bed.
